Why did this replace a better app? If you purchased an $800 detector marketed to professional drivers why this? Does anyone want to gamify a radar detection? Does anyone want mapping that is inferior? Does anyone want an app that struggles with accurate speed data? An app that only sometimes works in the background? An app that gives less useful data than it's predecessor? To all these, it's a resounding NO.

Right now the app doesn't display (or doesn't know) the speed limits for a very large amount of roads, and therefore the overspeed alert can't work on those roads. Escort Live is by far more useful but you can't set a destination with escort live. I wish that there were options for route planning, such as avoid highways, toll roads, dirt roads and ferries like in garmin.

Seems like there may be some progress, still not to par. The app starts now as of 100924. However, the following are still concerns. The app doesn't go into landscape after I've spent hundreds setting up mounts in my cars for it. I wish we had the option of using the iRadar app until they worked the bugs out of this one. Google maps won't work with my GPS while this turd is installed on my phone. I know it's not the car. It's the app for sure, I tried it on all 5 of the vehicles I have. T U R D!

Works when it does. But when I tried to setup and factory reset my dash cam, it just says that it's ed to another (even though it used MY EMAIL!!) And the app loves to sync emergency data (I have no emergency data and it takes 5 minutes to do it) I don't think I've used an app that sucks work than an app from 15 years ago. I actually can't fathom how they still didn't fix syncing emergency data, just add a skip button to it. Customer REALLY SUCKS and won't help.

Found the app has a tendency to hang on starting with syncing emergency data. Gave it 3 stars due to maditory permission for camera and storage which is not required in my opinion for connecting to a radar detector. Going to use the legacy Cobra IRadar app as long as possible. A second item is the radar alert when shown covers the top 1/3 the map inhibiting ability to see traffic congestion when using the app while driving to monitor traffic in the road ahead on the interstate hwy.

App is useless. Won't connect any devices to my phone. The Escort Live app will connect but not this Drive Smarter app. Can't find any of my radar detectors even they're in the available Bluetooth devices list. UPDATE: Finally got it to connect had to try about 30 times on each radar detector by repeatedly hitting the option in the app to search. Still don't understand why it's so difficult on this app but the older app connects instantly with no issue. Developers need to fix this ASAP!!

Updated 3/29/25: Poor replacement for Escort Live. Pros: Speed limit display works again, app closes properly vs Escort Live, auto reporting of Ka and Laser hits works again. Cons: No landscape mode, auto map zoom is still uselessly too close at highway speed, day/night: Auto and Disable Auto Lock settings don’t work, no alert prioritization and poor display of multiple alerts, minimal for anything other than current gen Escort/Cobra products, freezes when used with Android Auto.

I got a Cobra Drive HD dash cam, and installed iRadar to provide GPS data. iRadar started giving me a nag screen about switching to the Drive Smarter app. I installed Drive Smarter, but was unable to connect to my camera, after repeated attempts and resetting the camera and rebooting phone. I consulted the Cedar help page as given in several responses here, and found out that Cobra Drive HD is not on the list of compatible devices. Uninstalling.
