Jewish prayer is the prayer recitation that forms part of the observance of Rabbinic Judaism. These prayers, often with instructions and commentary, are found in the Siddur, the traditional Jewish prayer book.Prayer, as a "service of the heart," is in principle a Torah-based commandment. It is mandatory for Jewish women and men. However, the rabbinic requirement to recite a specific prayer text does differentiate between men and women: Jewish men are obligated to recite three prayers each day within specific time ranges (zmanim), while, according to many approaches, women are only required to pray once or twice a day, and may not be required to recite a specific text.
Jewish liturgy is the broad category of activities that Jews do in order to invoke God. It includes reciting, chanting, or singing texts; using ritual objects and wearing ritual garments; performing choreographed physical actions and gestures; and reciting blessings. Although Jewish liturgy includes far more than just the texts that are recited, the texts themselves provide a valuable way of understanding what Jewish prayer and worship is all about.
Jewish liturgy can be divided up into three main categories: prayers, blessings and rituals.
Prayers are recited on a daily basis, and have a specific structure to them.
- Blessings are recited on certain occasions, when eating something, or when performing a commandment like lighting candles before the Sabbath.
- Rituals are particular activities, like the over seder or redeeming the first born child (pidyon haben).
- Jewish liturgy constantly balances the interplay between using fixed texts (keva) and creating a personally meaningful, sincere interaction with God that reflects the intention (kavana) of the one who prays.
The Shema is one of the most important Jewish prayers in Jewish tradition, recited twice a day as a declaration of faith in God’s oneness and as a reminder of the central teachings of the Jewish faith. It is found in the Torah, specifically in the book of Deuteronomy (6:4-9), and is often regarded as the Jewish “creed.” The prayer is traditionally recited while standing and covering one’s eyes with one’s right hand.

I'm leaving 5 stars because the app does everything I want and need at this moment in time. However, 2 Jesus ads before my readings/prayers have a chance to load, which is infuriating, and I'll probably delete the app if I see another.

It has all the right prayers but only in English. Traditionally, Jewish prayers are recited in Hebrew even if that's not the primary language of the person praying.

There are some things that at first don't easily seem intuitive for the person who is exploring the routine from the outside. On the prayers and readings section, there is only the triangle that shows there is more in that spot than what shows. Once I found there was more there, I started to be more curious. I think the only way of learning sincerely what a Jew sees from adherence to a devotional schedule and prayer routine is to, throw as much prejudice aside as possible, and ask.

I love this little app! It is so easy to use, well-organized, and even has extra prayers and reflections to learn and grow from. Love the drop-down menus, they make it easy to find what I'm looking for. So, why 4 stars? The ads. I know they are a source of revenue, and are supposed to be high quality. What I object to is the frequent appearance of Christian ads in a Jewish app! Can something be done to only allow Jewish ads in the app?

I love the easy access to these prayers, but...I'm so TIRED of the ads for inappropriate games. Please find better ad sponsors. When I'm trying to pray to G-d, I don't want to be bombarded with sexual, cartoon ads.

TOO Many ads. I'm going leave the app because there are way too many ads. If it wasn't for the ads, I would keep the app. 😡😢

The app is OK. The constant ads are stupid and some are even Christian ads. I don't want to see Christian ads when I'm trying to read my Hebrew prayers.

I like this app a lot. I find myself on it once a day minumum. So thank you! Missing a couple useful Duesies though that I, as a non-Jew but who delights in a la carte religion, am looking for (i.e. evening or bedtime prayers). I would also lie
