योग भारत और नेपाल में एक आध्यात्मिक प्रकिया को कहते हैं जिसमें शरीर, मन और आत्मा को एक साथ लाने (योग) का काम होता है। यह शब्द, प्रक्रिया और धारणा बौद्ध धर्म,जैन धर्म और हिंदू धर्म में ध्यान प्रक्रिया से सम्बंधित है। योग शब्द भारत से बौद्ध धर्म के साथ चीन, जापान, तिब्बत, दक्षिण पूर्व एशिया और श्री लंका में भी फैल गया है और इस समय सारे सभ्य जगत्‌ में लोग इससे परिचित हैं।

इतनी प्रसिद्धि के बाद पहली बार ११ दिसंबर २०१४ को संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा ने प्रत्येक बर्ष २१ जून को विश्व योग दिवस के रूप में मान्यता दी है। भगवद्गीता प्रतिष्ठित ग्रंथ माना जाता है। उसमें योग शब्द का कई बार प्रयोग हुआ है, कभी अकेले और कभी सविशेषण, जैसे बुद्धियोग, संन्यासयोग, कर्मयोग। वेदोत्तर काल में भक्तियोग और हठयोग नाम भी प्रचलित हो गए हैं। महात्मा गांधी ने अनासक्ति योग का व्यवहार किया है। पतंजलि योगदर्शन में क्रियायोग शब्द देखने में आता है। पाशुपत योग और माहेश्वर योग जैसे शब्दों के भी प्रसंग मिलते है। इन सब स्थलों में योग शब्द के जो अर्थ हैं वह एक दूसरे के विरोधी हैं परंतु इस प्रकार के विभिन्न प्रयोगों को देखने से यह तो स्पष्ट हो जाता है, कि योग की परिभाषा करना कठिन कार्य है। परिभाषा ऐसी होनी चाहिए जो अव्याप्ति और अतिव्याप्ति दोषों से मुक्त हो, योग शब्द के वाच्यार्थ का ऐसा लक्षण बतला सके जो प्रत्येक प्रसंग के लिये उपयुक्त हो और योग के सिवाय किसी अन्य वस्तु के लिये उपयुक्त न हो।

योग के करने की क्रियाओं व आसनो को योगासन कहते है। संसार की प्रथम पुस्तक ऋग्वेद में कई स्थानों पर यौगिक क्रियाओं के विषय में उल्लेख मिलता है।

प्राणायाम
योग, योगासन साधना के आठ अंग हैं, जिनमें प्राणायाम चौथा सोपान है। अब तक हमने यम, नियम तथा योगासन के विषय में चर्चा की है, जो हमारे शरीर को ठीक रखने के लिए बहुत आवश्यक है।

प्राणायाम के बाद प्रत्याहार, ध्यान, धारणा तथा समाधि मानसिक साधन हैं। प्राणायाम दोनों प्रकार की साधनाओं के बीच का साधन है, अर्थात्‌ यह शारीरिक भी है और मानसिक भी। प्राणायाम से शरीर और मन दोनों स्वस्थ एवं पवित्र हो जाते हैं तथा मन का निग्रह होता है।

Hatha yoga texts emerged around the 11th century with origins in tantra.

Yoga gurus from India later introduced yoga to the west, following the success of Swami Vivekananda in the late 19th and early 20th century. In the 1980s, yoga became popular as a system of physical exercise across the Western world. Yoga in Indian traditions, however, is more than physical exercise; it has a meditative and spiritual core. One of the six major orthodox schools of Hinduism is also called Yoga, which has its own epistemology and metaphysics, and is closely related to Hindu Samkhya philosophy.

Many studies have tried to determine the effectiveness of yoga as a complementary intervention for cancer, schizophrenia, asthma, and heart disease. The results of these studies have been mixed and inconclusive, with cancer studies suggesting none to unclear effectiveness, and others suggesting yoga may reduce risk factors and aid in a patient's psychological healing process. On December 1, 2016, yoga, yogasan was listed by UNESCO as an Intangible cultural heritage.

This can be much better. Apart from one daily yog asan. The app can have a set of asans which one can daily do and track their progress weekly, monthly and yearly. Only one asan per day won't be enough. If daily routine gets incorporated in this app. This app will be the best in play store.
